The Rhubarbs (me on vocals and Sam King on acoustic guitar and vocals) has our first show in the 2nd installment of the Improved Lighting Readings that Matt and Kaveh have started at Nightbird Books. This will be my first performance in a decade! Sam’s helped me transition from a classical vocalist to someone who gets a little more slurry, though it’s tough to beat the classical out of me and it continues to linger as I work to develop my own sound. We’re covering Gillian Welch, Nina Simone, Townes Van Zandt, and Neko Case. The readers for this installment are C. Violet Eaton, Katie Nichol, Sabine Schmidt, and Whit Griffin. I’m so damn excited for this!!
